A dedicated student volunteer crew recently had the privilege of working behind the scenes at The Marketing Club’s (TMC’s) Auckland Marketers Day.
The team of six attended the sold-out event in Mt Eden last Friday. AIC student Dinakshi Perera says it was an excellent opportunity for students to gain industry exposure and practical employability skills.
“The classroom is excellent for learning foundations, but true career readiness happens when students step directly into the industry's ecosystem,” she says.
Helping at a real-world event allowed students to solve logistical challenges and gain hands-on experience in problem solving, collaboration, and communication, all skills highly valued by employers.
“This immersive experience also provided the team with direct networking access to leading marketing professionals, founders, and strategists across the region,” says Dinakshi.
Dinakshi says the biggest takeaway from the day was realising the marketing language taught in AIC’s courses was the same language used in the industry, helping students connect academic concepts with real-world practice.
“A massive shout out goes to our incredible campus volunteer crew for representing us with such high energy and professionalism, and a special thank you to Dani Mao for facilitating this vital bridge between academic study and the professional marketing world.”
