Students network at Migrants in Tech event

A few Auckland International Campus master’s students stepped out of their comfort zones recently to attend the Migrants in Tech Auckland event.

Employability Manager Dani Mao says networking isn’t necessarily about being polished.

“It’s about learning how to introduce yourself, ask a good question, listen actively, and build confidence conversation by conversation.”

She said students were nervous about attending at first but gained confidence after realising how keen fellow attendees were to talk with them.

Dani says our international students, especially those new to New Zealand’s work culture, find that these spaces matter a great deal.

“They believe that these kinds of events help them understand how professionals communicate, get comfortable starting conversations, build real connections beyond the classroom, and believe in what’s possible for their own career journey.”
