Graduate builds career and guides students
Construction graduate Sibele (Bella) Goulart Corbetta was back on campus this week sharing her study and work journey with our learners.
Bella initially enrolled in the Diploma in Construction (Quantity Surveying) at Future Skills but soon realised that pursuing a bachelor’s degree would offer her a deeper understanding of the construction industry and its business aspects.
Determined to expand her knowledge, she transitioned into the Bachelor of Construction and graduated in 2024.
Coming from a background as a chef in Brazil, she had no prior knowledge or experience in construction. Yet, she embarked on her new academic journey with a fresh mindset and successfully secured a position as a Junior Quantity Surveyor at a subcontracting company.
Bella credits her success to the consistent support provided by her lecturers.
"Everything we learn in school is exactly what is applied in the industry," she said.
She also praised the structure of the programme and the way knowledge is built progressively from the first to the third year.
Bella encouraged learners to thoroughly engage with project drawings used in assessments and advised them to make the most of their learning by actively asking questions during teaching sessions.
